Biography
Trombonist, composer and bandleader Simon Petermann focuses his work on contemporary forms of improvisation and the tonal extension of the trombone through electronic processing. He has performed extensively throughout Europe and South America. He lives in Bern and teaches at the Swiss Jazz School and the Bern University of the Arts.
He has toured with the Fischermanns Orchestra from Lucerne since 2007 and has held the position of musical director since 2013. Since 2014 he has been a member of the band Inside the Baxter Buliding, with which he conducts research into analogue and digital sound manipulation and the combination of acoustic and electronic sounds. As a sideman he plays in contemporary jazz, pop and classical projects. Since 2012 he has produced and presented Jazz am Sunntig on Radio Bern, RaBe.
